A List Apart
I build websites for a living and I really enjoy it. One of my favorite sites on the subject is A List Apart. The following paragraph from one of today’s articles really sums up my goal as a web designer.
Good web design has a signature style: It’s approachable, it’s easy to understand, and it packs enough punch to catch the roving eye of even the most mercurial user. Web designers know this doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of a finely honed process that asks—and answers—important questions about a site’s intended audience. You might call it “visual language” or “design vernacular.” Either way, what you find in a truly good design is a unique perspective. A point of view. A voice.
Another great opening line that I agree with entirely:

Pittsboro Place Location - Wait, what??
In my post yesterday, I mentioned the controversial Pittsboro Place. Until now, I misunderstood the proposed location. They want to put it HERE! That is the most insane place to put a larger than a Cary Crossroads sized shopping center. I could possibly understand it if it was out where the Lowes is near highways 64 and 15-501. Growth is not inevitable, it’s optional and I hope this doesn’t get approval.

There’s a lot of opposing opinion when it comes to Pittsboro growth. The News & Observer has an article that sums up the proposed projects. As a resident, I can say that I’m excited about the new Carolina Brewery and Grill that opens August 6th. I’d rather see development stick to local business and avoid national retail chains. You can find all of that in Cary and Apex just down the road.
No commentsPittsboro’s recent population boom, its proximity to other Triangle towns and the amount of available land make it the next likely hot spot in the area.
But residents fear the opening of the development flood gates, especially with the town’s first “big box” retailer, a Lowe’s Home Improvement, opening last year.
WOOO-HOOO!
I saw the movie last night. Simpsons fans will not be disappointed. Go see it with more fans than you’ve ever watched the Simpsons with before. It’s a blast.
If you haven’t yet, check out the movie website.

This made me laugh out loud, and then sad. What the hell is going on in professional sports? Snip from the Onion:
No comments…the fact that Bonds has not been implicated in dogfighting, nightclub shootings, gambling, or murdering his family has transformed his controversial pursuit of the all-time home-run record into the feel-good sports story of the summer.
The Simpsons Movie Tonight!
Tonight I will be driving to the theater at midnight to see The Simpsons Movie in all its 2-D splendor with a handful of my fellow Simpsons geek friends. Woo-hoooo!

I am a huge fan of Wes Anderson. I can’t [wait] for his latest. It looks like it might be great to see with my two brothers (guys - road trip?).
