Paddling on the Deep River

, originally uploaded by michael rupert.

My friend Juan and I did some paddling on the Deep River (18 miles of it). It divides Chatham and Lee counties in NC. Most of the paddle was a slug out in flat sections with little to no current. Luckily there were a few spots like this one along the way to keep things interesting.

The sun was not kind to me. My SPF 45 didn’t stay on very well in the heat and sweat. Hopefully they’ll cure cancer or invent a skin transplant procedure soon.
