Good Morning Cows

, originally uploaded by mr-haze.

Eko will heel off leash as we walk through the farm. Barn cats and chickens dart across our path. Cows approach to investigate. All he does is look at me as if to say, “did you see that?”

Which reminds me… While sitting poolside this past Sunday, the subject of pit bulls came up. I was kind of shocked to hear the very old myth that “their jaws have a locking mechanism.” Ugh…

The most offensive thing he’s done lately is fill the room with farts. Pit bulls fart, and farts stink. Facts!

Corn Snake

Corn Snake, Elaphe guttata guttata, originally uploaded by mr-haze.

This fine specimen is a corn snake, Elaphe, guttata, guttata. Purdy, eh?

You’re probably thinking I lost the dog or something. I haven’t. He’s working a frozen peanut butter filled Kong at my feet as I type. He’s grown. More about him later.

S. GA Wide Banded Eastern Kingsnake

This is one of my orange wide banded Eastern Kings. There are indeed wide banded eastern kings in the wild, but these have been selectively bred in captivity for more orange coloration with wider bands. This line gets huge, and it’s not uncommon for individuals to exceed six feet in length.

Mosaic Kingsnake

I acquired a 1.2 trio of F2 CB Mosaic Kingsnakes produced by Kevin Enge for a breeding project. They’re a phenotype of the Eastern Kingsnake found on Edisto Island, SC. Below is an example of this somewhat newly described morph, and a map of the Island the original snakes came from.

Here are two of the babies. (Note: they shouldn’t be kept together, as one could eat the other.)
